The International Translation Day is celebrated annually on 30 September in the honour of the Bible translator St. Hierom (347 – 420 A.D.) who is considered as the patron saint of translators. St. Hierom was a priest, theologian and historian and translated the Bible from Ancient Greek and Hebrew into Latin. This translation was recognized by the Roman Catholic Church as the official translation of the Holy Writ.
